Founded in 1913, it has also served as a mobilization site. Each year, it hosts the Department of Defense’s largest joint Reserve-component exercise, Northern Strike.

The base is located in the counties of Crawford, Kalkaska, and Otsego. It has large artillery and mortar ranges, tank and maneuver courses, and more. Visitors are invited to use the Morale, Welfare and Recreation facilities on post, including boating and fishing on Lake Margrethe.

Otsego County Historical Society

The Museum of the Founders’ Feast is a takeout fundraiser that takes place on Oct. 21. Board members of the Society deliver dinners in vehicles, while giving away giveaways. This is a drive-through event. It’s an annual event.

The Otsego County Historical Society was established in 1963. The Otsego County Historical Society collects and preserves all materials that help establish or illustrate Otsego County’s history. It is a non-profit corporation.

It is a member of the Greater Oneonta Community Foundation and the Otsego County Federation of Women’s Clubs. The Otsego County Historical Society also sponsors the Founders’ Feast.
